The enormous growth and diversification that His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, envisions for Abu Dhabi requires a highly sophisticated transport network that will move people and materials efficiently through the Emirate, in a way that contributes to the quality of life for all residents, businesses and visitors.

A number of vacancies, at senior and junior levels, exist in a newly formed governmental institution for personnel experienced in:
 
Public Transport
 
-    Strategic Transit Planning
-    Public Transport Policies and Regulations
-    Performance Management
-    Transport Planning/Project Management
-    Rail Planning
-    Freight Planning
-    Pedestrian and Bikeway Planning
-    Traffic Calming
-    Safety and Environment
-    Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
 
Job duties include:

- Managing multi-faceted transportation planning studies.
- Coordinating planning activities that involve the integration of roadway and transit concerns with land use, economic development, and environmental concerns.

The preferred candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
- Technical expertise in transportation planning analysis and study management.
- Familiarity with the inter-relationship between transportation planning and land use, economic development, and the environment
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and non-technical letters and memos
- Excellent verbal communications skills, including the ability to make presentations, work with officials to address specific transportation problems, and facilitate discussions at committee meetings
- Inter-personal skills to manage other members of a planning team, including developing consensus on solutions, facilitating public participation, and implementing action plans
- Fluency in the Arabic language would also be desirable
Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and relevant transportation planning experience of (5) years for professional level and (8-9) years for senior levels. A Postgraduate degree, for senior level positions, is preferred.   Experience with government agency or a major planning agency is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience.

 Applicants should have the following minimum requirements:   
    
-  Bachelors Degree in relevant discipline (for senior positions relevant postgraduate qualifications are preferred)
-  Relevant 5 years experience for professionals, and 8-9 years experience for senior positions, preferably with a government or major organization
-   Strong presentation and communication skills in English, and preferably Arabic.
